2021 Flying Pirate Half Marathon Weekend -Status Update as of February 9, 2021
After careful consideration of our local allowances and the continued effects of COVID-19 in our area, we have regrettably had to cancel our April Flying Pirate Half Marathon Weekend for 2021.
When we opened registration, we were hopeful that Spring 2021 would be the time to return to in-person races and our usual foot tour(s) of the Outer Banks. However, given the vaccine roll-out and our planning processes with local municipalities and venues; we have come to realize that this is not a reality. We know most of our participants travel for The Flying Pirate and want to be mindful of arrangements beyond those on our planning side.
We have decided against hosting Virtual Versions of these races.
Current registrants will receive a separate email regarding their registration.
Thank you for your support of Outer Banks Sporting Events races, and our mission-especially in these times.
Best to you,
2021 RUNNING OF THE LEPRECHAUNS STATUS UPDATE:
Februrary, 5, 2021
Dear Rainbow Chasers-
After careful consideration of our local allowances and the continued effects of COVID-19 and group gatherings in our area, we have regrettably had to cancel our upcoming Running of the Leprchauns scheduled for Saturday, March 13th, 2021.
Those registered have received more specific detail regarding their registration.
We sure had hoped to kick off the season with the Luck O' the Irish and look forward to better times for racing as we know it.
Best in running,
Happy, safe running !!
Thanks to all who ran with us virtually in 2020! We have been missing our in-person runners!
If you need our help email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please Note: As a community 501(c)3, it is not feasible to offer refunds. In race planning, certain fixed costs made months and often up to a year ahead of the race are unrecoverable. We understand and sympathize with how the pandemic has affected our athletes and your investments in events.
The financial impact of the pandemic crisis has also been felt deeply at OBSE.
Let's stay safe and run on, so that in the near future we can again gather, celebrate our endurance and continue our mission!
We want to express deep gratitude to TowneBank, Surf Pediatrics, Dominion Energy and The Outer Banks Visitor's Bureau and countless members of our Outer Banks Community for their years of support, including this tough one! We can't wait to partner again!
