TRI

July 31, 2020

Hello again athletes!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as it's effects on our event and planning resources and venues; we have made the difficult decision to conduct our Outer Banks Triathlon Weekend virtually, without any in-person aspects.

With appreciation for the disappointment it will cause you, our triathletes, please know that the decision was not made lightly. Our decision is based on North Carolina Department of Heath restrictions and consultation with our Board of Directors and Medical Directors.

Like our fellow event organizers and peers in this uncharted situation, Outer Banks Sporting Events believes in individual safety as well as overall health of athletes, spectators, volunteers, the running community and beyond.

You may defer your entry to the 2021 Triathlon Weekend. We plan to produce this event September 10-12, 2021.

To transfer your event, please visit Active at myevents.active.com or via your registration confirmation email.

Please note: For the future sustainability of our organization, a community 501(c)3, it is not feasible to offer refunds. In race planning, certain fixed costs made months and often up to a year ahead of the race are unrecoverable. We understand and sympathize with how the pandemic has affected our athletes and your investments in events. The financial impact of the pandemic crisis has been felt deeply at OBSE.

Outer Banks Sporting Events intends to return to high-production events when the opportunity returns.  As we have seen recently, the situation remains fluid. We will update our website as we monitor the situation closer to the event, keeping you informed as to how future OBSE races may look different in light of new guidelines.

Best in Health and Safety-

TEAM OBSE
