OBSE contributes to the Dare Education Foundation every year. Check out some of the great strides DEF is making to help support our students and teachers. 

Established in 2002, The Dare Education Foundation (DEF) is an educational non-profit dedicated to supporting the students, teachers and schools of Dare County. We are a collective group of stakeholders working together to enhance the education of our Outer Banks Community. DEF offers grant cycles for schools, funding support for teachers seeking higher education opportunities and scholarships for students. A significant aspect of DEF's impact involves our teacher housing complexes, offering 36 affordable housing units for local educators at a below market rate.
