2025 Killer Dunes 2-Miler

Finish off your Independence Day weekend by supporting an OBX treasure! Outer Banks Sporting Events invites you to run/walk/overcome 2 miles on Jockey's Ridge, the tallest natural sand dune system in the eastern US! Attracting runners looking for a "unique" challenge (and drawing a very competitive field), we also welcome people to walk the course (not just a "walk in the park" though)! Proceeds benefit Friends of Jockey's Ridge, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting, preserving and enhancing Jockey's Ridge State Park.

When: Friday, July 4th, 8 a.m.
What: 2-mile run across the dunes
Where: Jockey's Ridge State Park
Who: Ages 12 & Up

Please Note: On-site parking is limited, so please carpool as much as possible on race morning.


Packet Pick-Up

Thursday, July 3rd, 3-6 p.m.
Jockey's Ridge State Park

Please Note: There will be no packet pick-up on race day!


Course Info

The Killer Dunes 2-miler will be professionally timed by Precision Racing.

Water station near mid-point of the course. Dare County EMS will be on-call.

Please Note: Strollers and pets not allowed.


Awards

Awards will go to 2-miler participants in the following categories:

  • Top 3 Males Overall
  • Top 3 Females Overall
  • Top 3 in Each Age Group

Post-Race Party

All-American fare will be available after the race for registered participants only. Food, beer and fun!
