It’s been stated that the best way to explore a destination is to run through it! The Outer Banks Marathon, held each Veteran’s Day weekend, will give a tour of this historic coastline like no other!

An event for all ages and for the inner explorer in all of us, this flat point-to-point (Boston Qualifier) course will take you through the beautiful and breathtaking coast of North Carolina’s Outer Banks!

The Outer Banks Marathon, with its authentic hometown feel and encouragement by thousands of OBX residents along the way, will please all the senses!

There’s just no doubt about it! With a full two days of events, from the 5k and 8k to the Southern Fried Half and the Townebank Outer Banks Marathon, the event organizers – Outer Banks Sporting Events – have put together a challenging weekend of multi-distance Outer Banks running and combo events for the whole family to enjoy!

Following the race, join us for a post-race celebration and party in downtown Manteo on Queen Elizabeth Street on the waterfront! Bring your family and friends to enjoy a festival atmosphere including live music, good eats, and exclusive OBSE retail gear! Park at Manteo High School or Manteo Middle School and ride the shuttle!

At the Finish Line, there will be bananas, pretzels, water, Gatorade, and more! On Queen Elizabeth Street, there's free runner food: Carolina-style BBQ and sweet potato fries. Food for purchase will be available for non-runners. Beer Garden of-age runners may choose either Corona Light or Pacifico. Look for the beer garden on the waterfront at the intersection of Budleigh Street and Queen Elizabeth Avenue. Race Bibs will have your age printed on them. Show them to the Beer Garden Volunteer. Those without bibs will need a photo ID.

Shuttle Passes

In order to board any shuttle on Marathon Sunday, participants and spectators are required to purchase a Shuttle Pass. It is a one time purchase of $5 and good for the whole day with unlimited shuttle use.

Shuttle passes can be purchased by participants during the registration process and can also be purchased by spectators as a stand-alone purchase. More than one shuttle pass can be purchased at a time if needed.

If a participant has already registered and a shuttle pass purchase was not an option during registration, they will need to go back and purchase the shuttle pass if they want to utilize the service.
