Registration

No, unfortunately the last chance to register is one day before the event. Registration closes one hour before the Race Expo closes. You must pick up your packet before the day of your event. There is no packet pick up on race day.
Online registration can be found on our website here.
The race you choose to participate in will determine the specific finisher medal you will receive. All finishers will receive a race t-shirt, a medal, and a few other finisher items/swag.

If you won’t make it on race day, you can choose from the following options:

  • Defer your registration
  • Transfer your bib to someone else
  • Switch your registered event

No, Outer Banks Sporting Events does not issue refunds under any circumstances. No exceptions. Not even in the event of a race cancellation. In that scenario, OBSE may choose to reschedule or defer participants (at a cost), but those who were already deferred will not have this option.

Expo & Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up for the 2024 OBX Marathon Weekend will be at the St. Andrews By-the-Sea in Nags Head.

The expo & packet pick-up will take place on Friday, November 8th  (1-7 p.m.) and Saturday, November 9th (11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Please note: There will be no packet pick-up on race day.
If you are unable to pick up your own race packet, you may authorize another person to pick up your packet/bib number. The authorized individual MUST have their own photo ID, a signed and printed authorization form, and a copy of the participant’s photo ID. The signed authorization form MUST be printed, we will NOT accept any authorization via phone, text message, or any other electronic device. The copy of the photo ID may be via text, email, or photocopy. If the authorized individual is missing any of these items, we will not release the packet/bib number, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Race Information

Yes, there will be plenty of space to view the finish line. We suggest arriving to the finish line early to ensure a good spot. We also invite you to stay after the race and enjoy our post-race party.
Yes, especially for our 21+ partygoers who may want to enjoy beer with their barbecue.
Yes. We award the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female runners in each race category.
After the races are all run, we will post the results here on our website. For immediate race results, you can check www.itsyourrace.com.
Yes, there will be port-a-potties approximately every two miles along the course adjacent to the water stations.
Yes, there will be hydration stations approximately every two miles along the course that include Gu energy gels, Gatorade, Pickle Juice and water.
The Fun Run is open to all ages. 5k and 8K must be 6 years and older. All other race events are 16+.
No baby joggers, strollers or pets are permitted in any OBSE races or events.
Yes. The limit for the half marathon will be 4 hours; the limit for the full marathon will be 6 hours.
Yes, there will be pacers along the course to help you achieve your race goals.

General Information

We recommend you arrive at least 45 minutes before the race, however this is up to your discretion. Showing up five minutes prior to your event start will not work.
In November the average temperature hangs between 66° / 50°. Expect some cloudy skies, and there may be a possibility of rain. However, many people recommend September-November as the best time to visit the Outer Banks because it is less crowded than the busy season and the accommodations will be less expensive.
The 5k, 8k, and Fun Run are on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 7:30. After that, on Sunday, November 10th at 7:00am, the half marathon starts and then the full marathon starts at 7:20am.
All parking for Saturdays events will be at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills. All Sunday parking will be at Manteo Middle School, Manteo Middle School and College of the Albemarle. Shuttles will be available to take runners and spectators to Fort Raleigh on Sunday beginning at 5:30 a.m.
