TowneBank Outer Banks Marathon & Southern Fried Half Marathon

Presented by TowneBank, the Outer Banks Marathon and Southern Fried Half Marathon will start at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and sends runners through the village of Mashoes along the scenic soundside of Roanoke Island before finishing back at Fort Raleigh. Once participants cross the finish line, they will enjoy a post-race celebration at the entrance to The Lost Colony.

Race Perks

  • Flat, fast course

  • Water stops approximately every 2 to 2.5 miles on the course

  • Pacer groups (join one of our pace groups on race day and allow the Pace Team to help you achieve your goals!)

  • Dogs are not permitted on the course
  • Strollers are not permitted on the course
  • Headphones are not permitted on the course
  • Course time limit is 4 hours (18:19 minutes per mile pace)
  • Course certification #NC24009BDS
  • Parking will be at Manteo Elementary School, Manteo Middle School, Manteo High School and COA. There will be NO PARKING at Fort Raleigh.
  • Runners must stay on multiuse path for their safety and the safety of civilians or they could be facing disqualification

Surf Pediatrics Surf & Soar 8K

The Outer Banks 8K presented by Surf Pediatrics starts right at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. It goes around the historical memorial over to one of the nearby neighborhoods of Kill Devil Hills and finishes back at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Once you cross the finish line you will have an after-race party and wonderful food along with awards.

Presented by Surf Pediatrics, the Outer Banks 5K takes place at the historic Wright Brothers National Memorial and surrounding park. The race is an event for the whole family!

  • Parking is at the First Flight school complex off Colington Rd. and Veterans Dr. (must cross the road at the crosswalk)
